Why I built unusd.cloud.
I started my career as a SysAdmin in a glass factory in the north of France. Since then, I've focused on IT security and cloud computing - working at Microsoft, then as a security consultant for Google, before running my own AWS consulting practice since 2020.
Over the years, consulting for companies like ENGIE, Enedis, Virbac, Formance, and many others, I kept running into the same problem: AWS costs spiraling quietly. Developers forget to terminate test instances. Proof of concepts leave orphaned resources behind. Snapshots accumulate. By the time Finance flags the bill, thousands have already been wasted.
I found myself building the same spreadsheets, running the same CLI commands, doing the same audit work for every client. So in 2023, I built unusd.cloud to automate what I was doing manually.
Every detection rule comes from a real pattern I've observed across real AWS environments. Every report format was shaped by what FinOps teams and engineering leaders actually need. This isn't built from a product roadmap. It's built from the field.
